Charles County is a Code Home Rule County governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners. Meetings of the Charles County Board of Commissioners are scheduled each week in the Charles County Government Building. The meetings are broadcast on the Charles County Government website, www.charlescounty.org, as well as on CCG-TV, Charles County`s local government cable television station broadcast on Comcast channel 95 and Verizon channel 10.

The U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is a standing committee of the United States House of Representatives. The Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has formerly been known as the Committee on Public Works and Transportation, and the Committee on Public Works between 1947 and 1968. This committee was formed in 1842. Under the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 the Committees on Public Buildings and Grounds (1837-1946), Rivers and Harbors (1883-1946), Roads (1913–46), and the Flood Control (1916–46) were combined to form the Committee on Public Works. Its jurisdiction from the beginning of the 80th Congress (1947–48) through the 90th Congress (1967–68) remained unchanged. While these four original committees retained their separate identities, they were reduced to subcommittees. Addition subcommittees were formed for issues on Beach Erosion, 80th Congress (1947–48) and for Watershed Development, 86th-90th Congresses (1959–68). Special Subcommittees included those: to Investigate Questionable Trade Practices, 80th Congress; to Study Civil Works, 82nd Congress (1951–52); on the Federal-Aid Highway Program, 86th-90th Congresses; and on Economic Development Programs, 89th-90th Congresses (1965–68). Ad Hoc Committees were established on Montana Flood Damage, 88th Congress (1963–64); on Appalachian Regional Development, 88th-90th Congresses; and on the 1967 Alaska Exposition, 89th Congress.
SPAWAR`s mission is to work closely with the fleet, systems commands and Navy partners to deliver interoperable and secure information warfare capability by acquiring and integrating sensors, communications, weapons, information and control systems for existing and future ships, aircraft, submarines, unmanned systems and the associated shore based support systems. Over the last decade, information has emerged as a warfighting domain, joining land, sea and air as a critical, contested battlespace. As the Navy`s information warfare systems command, SPAWAR is the Navy acquisition command that develops, delivers and sustains communications and information warfare capabilities for warfighters, keeping them securely connected anytime, anywhere. With a space support activity, two research and development system centers and through partnerships with three program executive offices, SPAWAR provides the hardware and software needed to execute Navy missions. SPAWAR consists of more than 10,000 active duty military and civil service professionals located around the world and close to the fleet to keep SPAWAR at the forefront of research, engineering and acquisition to provide and sustain information warfare capabilities to the fleet. SPAWAR products and services transform ships, aircraft and vehicles from individual platforms into integrated battle forces, delivering and enhancing information warfare among Navy, Marine, joint forces, federal agencies and international allies. Internally, SPAWAR is organized into eight competencies: finance, contracts, legal, logistics and fleet support, engineering, acquisition and program management, science and technology and corporate operations.
