HSC Winnipeg exists to provide the best possible hospital experience for patients and families and a positive working and learning environment for staff, volunteers and future healthcare providers. We provide acute hospital (tertiary and other) and community health services to Manitobans and others. This includes providing specialty, sub-specialty, and sophisticated intensive care, in a learning environment.
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a Canadian Crown corporation established by an act of Parliament in 1970 to help developing countries find solutions to their problems. We encourage and support researchers and innovators in those countries to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems their societies face. Our goal is to find ways to reduce poverty, improve health, support innovation, and safeguard the environment. We often work with other Canadian government departments and agencies on programs of mutual interest that are aligned with Canadian values and government priorities. Many of these initiatives create opportunities for researchers from Canada and the developing world to collaborate on research of common interest. Most of IDRC’s funding comes from annual appropriations from Canada’s Parliament. IDRC also receives funds from other sources, such as foundations and other Canadian and international organizations that support international development or fund research. IDRC is guided by an international Board of Governors. We report to Canada’s Parliament through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our head office is in Ottawa, Canada. Four regional offices help ensure the relevance of our work.
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) is a professional investment management organization with a critical purpose – to help provide a foundation upon which Canadians build financial security in retirement. We invest the assets of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). We invest those assets not currently needed by the CPP to pay pension, disability and survivor benefits. CPPIB is headquartered in Toronto with offices in Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, New York, and Sao Paulo. We invest in public equities, private equities, bonds, real estate, infrastructure and other areas. The Fund`s current assets total over $200 billion, ranking us among the 10 largest retirement funds in the world. Our assets are projected to reach $300 billion by 2020, $500 billion by 2030, and more than $1 trillion by 2045.
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) works to promote safety, protect the environment, and conserve resources offshore through vigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement. BSEE is the U.S. offshore oil, natural gas, and renewable energy regulator. The bureau was formally established on October 1, 2011 as part of a major reorganization of the Department of the Interior`s offshore regulatory structure. Key functions include: - An offshore regulatory program that develops standards and regulations and emphasizes a culture of safety in all offshore activities; - Oil spill response preparation including review of industry Oil Spill Response Plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; -Environmental enforcement with a focus on compliance by operators with all applicable environmental regulations, as well as ensuring that operators adhere to the stipulations of their approved leases, plans and permits; - And funding scientific research to enhance the information and technology needed to build and sustain the organizational, technical and intellectual capacity within and across BSEE`s key functions that keeps pace with industry technological improvements, innovates regulation and enforcement and reduces risk through systematic assessment and regulatory and enforcement actions in order to better carry out the BSEE mission. The bureau maintains regional offices in Anchorage, Alaska, Camarillo, Calif., and New Orleans, La., with additional district offices along the Gulf of Mexico coast.
