About the Person

Kathy Santoro is the Director of Human Resources Programs and Operations in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.   Kathy joined FAS in October of 2013 following more than 25 years in human resources, both in-house and as a consultant to organizations on HR strategy and best practices. She is responsible for delivering programs and for developing strong leadership and management practices that promote diversity, engagement and collaboration and that recognize the accomplishments of FAS staff. She also oversees FAS recruitment.   Kathy’s experience spans all areas of human resources, starting as the Employment Manager with Lotus Development and building the HR function at Thinking Machines and Molten Metal Technology. As the HR Director at Bioengineering Group she helped the company successfully execute a significant government contract that supported New Orleans’ recovery after Hurricane Katrina.   Her expertise in finding creative approaches to solving problems stems from years as an organizational troubleshooter. She has worked with both public and private companies in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, in a variety of industries.    Kathy received her BS in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara, and her Master’s in Education, Counseling Psychology from Boston College.
