Developed in 2006, the Metro New York & Southern Connecticut HERC is a collaborative response of member institutions to the many challenges of academic recruitment and retention. Of particular interest to the Metro New York & Southern Connecticut HERC is finding effective ways to assist the spouses and partners of faculty and staff to secure area employment and ways to address issues of faculty and staff diversity.
Everything changed when the #metoo movement hit this past year and we, along with the rest of the world, have watched old systems of power crumble. And yet, as the collective consciousness has raised around us, we think that there is still a reckoning that needs to occur within HR. We are inspired by the myriad movements that have formed and yet, one of the most important audiences has been left out of the conversation so far: us. So, we sent out a test balloon in the form of an Instagram account. We began calling out our fellow HR professionals for being part of the problem, and calling on HR to figure out how to be the solution. And what started as a simple Instagram account has very quickly become a global movement and thriving community of disruptors. We`d love for you to join us.
