With a mission to "Educate Every Child," Dare County`s 11 public schools serve a growing student population approaching 5000. Since 2003, the district has increase facilities by 44% through new construction and by additions/major renovations - four new schools have been added to the system. DCS has a thriving professional climate in which the numbers of Nationally Board Certified teachers (currently 62) is steadily increasing and approximately 1/3 of our teachers have earned advanced degrees. Each Dare County school has received accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Founded as Collège du Sacré-Coeur in 1913, it was the first, and for many years the only, institution of higher learning in Northern Ontario. Native elders also enhance the university experience of students by providing support services from an Aboriginal perspective. The University`s chapel is home to the St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, a community of the Diocese of Sault-Ste-Marie, and also serves as a place for ecumenical and multi-faith worship and meditation.
