Sworn in on January 9, 2011, George Gascón became District Attorney of the City and County of San Francisco. He is the first former Chief of Police to ever hold the position and the first Latino District Attorney in San Francisco`s history. Prior to being sworn in as District Attorney on January 9, 2011, George Gascón led the San Francisco Police Department, having assumed the position of Chief of Police on August 7, 2009.
