In 2008, the prestigious Carnegie Foundation classified UVU as a "community engaged" institution. This elective classification reflects UVU`s curricular emphasis on engaged learning and longstanding role as a community problem-solver. Among other things, this means that we place a great emphasis on "learning by doing." As a result, there are many opportunities for students here to get involved in activities in and out of the classroom that will not only deepen their understanding of the subject matter they are studying but will also give them some vital real-world experience. We are finding this makes our graduates some of the most sought after in today`s competitive workforce. Located near the Wasatch Mountains, many students choose UVU for its ideal location.
