The University of West Georgia is seeking a Vice President of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer (VP of IT/CIO).
This person will be responsible for providing executive leadership to the Division of Information Technology (IT) directly reporting to the President. This includes directing the overall technology strategy of the University and leading the delivery of innovative technology solutions that support the changing needs of the University. Representing the interest of the Information Technology Division within the established campus leadership groups, the VP of IT/CIO will lead divisional culture and professional development efforts and manage functional responsibilities including the divisional budget. The VP of IT/CIO will be aware of relevant organizational needs and how trends within the technology industry address those needs. In addition, the VP of IT/CIO will be active in the University System of Georgia (USG), higher education community, technology industry, and looked upon as a respected collaborator and leader. While technically competent, the VP of IT/CIO will be a business person first and a technologist second.
Required Qualifications:
Master degree is required in science, business, or related field;
Ten years of senior IT leadership experience, preferably within a complex public university. At least 5 years of leadership experience covering a variety of information technology fields.
Strong skills in oral and written communications, complex problem resolution, and simultaneous project management.
Proven track record of linking strategic objectives, information services initiatives, and innovative practices.
Strong proven technology background.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate preferred in a related field.
Demonstrated strong strategic planning and project management experience.
