Established in 1913, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has jurisdiction of over 2,700 miles of roads and maintains an additional 230 miles or state highways. We maintain the largest county road system in Michigan. In addition to roads, we also maintain over 1,500 traffic signals throughout Oakland County. Oakland County has the lowest traffic-fatality rate in Michigan and are among the lowest in the world for a community of its size and population due to safety improvements on many roads. We employ state-of-the-art computer and communication technologies to improve traffic flow, decrease travel time, enhance safety and reduce vehicle tailpipe emissions that are characteristics of stop-and-go driving. Scott County was the fastest growing county in the state of Minnesota for the last couple of decades, with a 45% increase in total population. The 2010 U.S. Census estimated the county`s population at 129,928. This figure is expected to increase by 100,000 persons by the year 2030, according to Metropolitan Council population forecasts. Scott County has a land area of 365 square miles and is bound on the west and north by the Minnesota River. The Minnesota River supported the county`s fur trading, lumbering, and farming industries in the 1800s. Today, Scott County enjoys a growing mix of commercial, industrial, and housing development, yet also maintains its rural flavor.
The Massachusetts Health Policy Commission (HPC), established in 2012, is an independent state agency charged with monitoring health care spending growth in Massachusetts and providing data-driven policy recommendations regarding health care delivery and payment system reform. The HPC`s mission is to advance a more transparent, accountable, and innovative health care system through independent policy leadership and investment programs. The agency`s main responsibilities are managed by HPC staff and overseen by an 11-member board of commissioners. HPC staff and commissioners work collaboratively to monitor and improve the performance of the health care system. Key activities include setting the health care cost growth benchmark; setting and monitoring provider and payer performance relative to the health care cost growth benchmark; creating standards for care delivery systems that are accountable to better meet patients` medical, behavioral, and social needs; analyzing the impact of health care market transactions on cost, quality, and access; and investing in community health care delivery and innovations.
