The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is a governmental agency and public instrumentality of the state of Rhode Island which manages all publicly owned airports within the state. The corporation was formed in 1992 as a semiautonomous subsidiary of the Rhode Island Port Authority, which has since become the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation. RIAC is responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the six state-owned airports, and for the supervision of all civil airports, landing areas, navigational facilities, air schools, and flying clubs throughout the state. The six state-owned airports include T. F. Green Airport, the state`s commercial airport with scheduled air carrier service, and the general aviation airports at Block Island, Newport, North Central, Quonset, and Westerly. RIAC is governed by a seven-member board of directors.
