About the Company

Fidelity Bank was formed on December 28, 1908, and is a mutual institution chartered by the Office of Financial Institutions (OFI). Our original name was Fidelity Homestead Association, the term "Homestead" was only used in Louisiana when referring to a savings and loan. The purpose of the savings and loan industry was to give people a safe place to save money and to provide funds for housing.

 

About the Person

Todd Schexnayder is the Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Fidelity Bank.   Previously, he was the senior vice president of human resources at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and retired on Dec. 31, 2015 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, where he has worked since 2006.   During Schexnayder`s tenure, the Blue Cross workforce grew from 1,600 employees to nearly 2,500, and Human Resources Department services expanded to meet the demand. Among the department`s accomplishments during this time were the establishment of a comprehensive orientation program for new employees, an updated university outreach initiative and internship program and greatly expanded talent management and cultural change initiatives.   Also under his watch, the company was named a Best Place to Work by the Baton Rouge Business Report and Louisiana Workforce Commission, received a 2014 Excellence in Diversity Award from the Greater Baton Rouge Society of Human Resource Management, earned the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals WellSpot designation for its Baton Rouge campus and wellness program and received a host of similar honors related to employee diversity and satisfaction.   Prior to joining Blue Cross, Schexnayder was senior vice president of human resources at Pan‑American Life Insurance Company in New Orleans. A native of Lucy, Louisiana, he received his bachelor`s degree from Louisiana State University and his master`s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Schexnayder has completed additional coursework at Harvard Business School and has numerous professional designations through the human resources and insurance industries.   His community involvement includes board participation for the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation, Opera Louisiane in Baton Rouge, Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo, the Volunteers of America, Baton Rouge Chapter, and the Baton Rouge Rotary. He is a member of the LSU National Diversity Advisory Board, a board member of the A.P. Tureaud Alumni Chapter at LSU and a member of the LSU Advisory Council for the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.   Schexnayder volunteers for the VIPS reading program in East Baton Rouge Parish public schools. He served as a board member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation from 2008 to 2014 and is also a past school board president and board member for the Edwards Hynes Charter School in New Orleans. He served as a member of the LSU Manship Alumni Executive Board and was the board president from 2006 to 2008.   Schexnayder was a member of the Leadership Louisiana Class of 2008 and the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute Class of 2000. He has served on national committees of the American Council of Life Insurers and America`s Health Insurance Plans in Washington, D.C., and the Life Office Management Association in Atlanta.   Schexnayder is currently a lector at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. He and his wife, Valerie, are the parents of two sons, Sebastian and Benjamin.
