About the Person

Timothy Erwin is the Chief Human Resources officer at Alameda Unified School District.   A veteran district administrator, Erwin has served as assistant superintendent of human resources in Newark Unified School District since 2007. There his duties included coordinating the department`s budget; recruiting and selecting new employees; training and evaluating new teachers; leading labor negotiations; and managing employee discipline.   Erwin received a bachelor`s degree in religious studies from Holy Names College and a master`s degree in divinity from the Franciscan School of Theology. He worked as a Catholic priest and reserve police officer before starting a career in public school administration in 1999.   A long-time Alamedan who lives on the West End, Erwin has two children who graduated from Encinal High School and a third who is currently attends a middle school on the island.
