Pepco Holdings (PHI), a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, is one of the largest energy delivery companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, serving more than 2 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland and New Jersey. PHI subsidiaries Pepco, Delmarva Power and Atlantic City Electric provide regulated electricity service; Delmarva Power also provides natural gas service.
Thomas Graham is Vice President People Strategy and Human Resources for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) In this capacity, Graham is responsible for developing and implementing enterprise-wide policies and programs encompassing all aspects of human resource management including employment, employee and labor relations, employee benefits, succession planning, compensation, performance accountability, employee training, placement, organizational development, diversity programs, compliance with applicable federal laws, and management and employee assistance. PHI has more than 4,500 employees working across New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia and about 4,400 retirees throughout the United States. During his 27-year career, Mr. Graham has held several leadership positions that include President Pepco Region, Regional Vice President, Manager, Strategic Accounts and Manager, Billing Services & Investigations. In these assignments, he has been responsible for engineering design, customer relationship management, unplanned outage support, billing resolution, supplier support, revenue protection and energy-use management programs for Pepco’s residential, small commercial and largest commercial customers. He also has been responsible for the design, implementation and management of Pepco’s Customer Advisory Board, Trade Ally Program and Community Partnership Program. The Community Partnership Program has received two industry excellence awards from the Edison Electric Institute and Southeastern Electric Exchange. In 2007, Mr. Graham completed the Executive Education Program in Financial Management at the University of Michigan. In 2005, he completed the Senior Executive Leadership Certificate Program at Georgetown University. Mr. Graham attended the University of Tampa on athletic and music scholarships and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 as an honors student in Business Management. He was a four-year letterman in soccer. During this period, his team set or tied two NCAA records in route to the school’s first national championship in soccer. In 2012, Mr. Graham was acknowledged as one of the Idealists of the Year recipients and received MEA Magazine’s 50 Powerful US/International Business Executives Awards. He also was selected by The Daily Record as one of 50 most Influential Marylanders for 2013. In October 2010, he was honored by the United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP) organization with the Excellence in Partnership Award, its top award for exemplary community service. In April 2010, he was chosen as one of 25 recipients of the 2010 Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leaders Award. Honored in May 2010, Mr. Graham was named a recipient of the Candle of Service Award by the Mission of Love Charities, Inc., which honors the efforts of those individuals who exemplify the humanitarian spirit of the late Senator Decatur "Bucky" Trotter (former Chairman of the Board of Mission of Love Charities, Inc). He also was named during 2010 as one of 83 Maryland Power Players in The Gazette of Politics and Business Newspaper. In 2009, Mr. Graham received the Maryland India Business Roundtable (MIBRT) Award for promoting best business practices and community relations in the Washington DC Region as well as the Melwood Community Leader of the Year Award. Mr. Graham also was recognized in 2009 among Who’s Who in Black Washington, D.C. for his exemplary career and community involvement throughout the Washington Metropolitan region. In 2008, Mr. Graham received the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Tampa. In 2006, the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce recognized him as Business Leader of the Year. He currently serves on the board of the Center for Energy Workforce Development (Chair) and Maryland Chamber of Commerce (Chair). Mr. Graham is also on the boards for Heroes, Inc. and Kevin Durant Charity Foundation. Other affiliations include Leadership Maryland, Leadership Montgomery, American Association of Blacks in Energy and Leadership Prince George’s.
