About the Person

Tammie L. Davis, Chief Human Resources Officer for Kingsport City Schools since July 2010, is currently in her thirty-second year with Kingsport City Schools.    She began her career as both the chorus and orchestra director at John Sevier Middle School, serving in that position from 1983-2001.  During her time at Sevier, she was namedMiddle School Teacher of the Year for Kingsport City Schools (1996).  She later served as Associate Principal at Jefferson Elementary (2001-2004), then principal atLincoln Elementary School for six years (2004-2010).    Tammy received one of the highest honors in her career in 1999 when a top Furman Honors student recognized her as his most influential teacher in his life during his K-12 education. She has also been nominated several times by former students forWho`s Who Among America`s Teachers for making a difference in their lives.   As an administrator, Ms. Davis was named to the Distinguished School Administrator Honor Roll by the Tennessee Association of School Librarians (2005).   She also received the 2011 Outstanding Administrator Award from the Tennessee Music Educators Association, based on a nomination from a Kingsport City Schools Music Teacher.   Ms. Davis is a member of TN Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA). She received herBachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University in 1983 and herMaster of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from East TN State University in 1992.
