Steve Pelch was named a member of Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive in January 2014. As the vice president of organization planning and development, Pelch manages the company’s succession planning programs, senior executive recruitment, leadership development, as well as MBA graduate recruitment. In 2015, he assumed oversight of Emerson’s human resources function. Pelch began his Emerson career with Fisher Controls in 1987. After serving as the chemical industry manager, he held general management positions within Fisher Control’s service organization and was initially based in Columbia, South Carolina, with responsibility for the U.S. Southeast. He moved four years later to St. Louis to serve in a similar capacity for the larger Midwest region and during his tenure established several new service locations in Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri. In 1997, Pelch moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to run a recent acquisition by Emerson. In 2001, he became vice president and general manager for Emerson’s Fisher Controls business in Asia, based in Singapore, where he was responsible for the entire business with major manufacturing facilities in China, Japan, India, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. He returned to the United States in 2004 to serve as the vice president of planning for Emerson Process Management, the company’s largest business segment. In this role, he coordinated strategies for its business units and successfully completed several acquisitions. From 2005 until 2012, Pelch served as vice president of corporate planning for Emerson, where he analyzed business plans, strategy and portfolio management investments to drive continued growth and profitability in cooperation with the company’s corporate and business-level leadership teams around the world. Pelch received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA degree from the University of South Carolina.
