About the Person
Steve Danley earned his BA in Political Science and a Masters of Business & Public Administration from UCI. For the past 31 years, Mr. Danley has worked for the County of Orange in a number of highly diverse and critical executive/management assignments. Currently, Mr. Danley serves as the County`s Chief Human Resources Director responsible for the countywide provision of such critical tasks as hiring, labor negotiations, employee discipline, recruitment, classification/compensation, employee benefits, and training. Preceding this role, Mr. Danley was selected by the Board of Supervisors, after a nationwide recruitment, to fill the newly created position of Performance Audit Director. In this assignment, Mr. Danley conducted comprehensive assessments of the performance of County of Orange operations and programs. Many of these audits received national and local acclaim, including in 2011, Harvard University`s Ash Center for Democratic Government and Innovation naming Orange County`s performance audit operation as a national Bright Idea. A sampling of other prior County work assignments include serving as: the Director of Administration for the Orange County Public Works Department, the OC Waste & Recycling Department, and the Office of the District Attorney; Chief of Organizational Assessment/Development for the County Executive Office; and Regional Landfill Manger. On the academic side, Mr. Danley has taught with UCI for 6 years, and given a number of classroom presentations at UC Santa Barbara and Biola University. In his spare time, Mr. Danley spent 30 years as a NCAA and High School Basketball Official, and has been on the Patient Advisory Council at St. Joseph Hospital.
