Burlingame is a city of the 3rd class. We are a full service city offering police protection, building inspections and utilities including water, sewer, natural gas, electricity and trash pick-up. Burlingame is conveniently located between Topeka and Emporia on US 56 highway about 10 miles north of Osage City. As you enter Santa Fe Avenue, known as main street to the townspeople now, you will notice the extra wide street. The 130 foot street allows for cars to park on the sides and in the middle. The streets were made this wide to accommodate the Santa Fe Trail which went down the main street, allowing the large oxen teams pulling covered wagons to make a "U -Turn". Santa Fe Avenue was laid with the red bricks in the 1920`s, and is still covered with bricks to this day. Every Friday and Saturday night you can see the local high school students cruising the main street.
East Chicago is a great community filled with extraordinary people. Our diversity will always be our strength. This City is truly a special place! Our new parks, designed by neighboring residents, businesses and community organizations, are a great example of the the administration`s dedication to giving our city back to the community. Our North Harbor Revitalization efforts demonstrate our commitment to residents and attracting new and existing business with our dedication to providing quality housing and stimulating economic growth. All of our efforts with regards to public safety, economic development, education, revitalizing our parks, providing quality services and creating jobs have only just begun. Together, we have balanced the budget and accomplished a great deal in such a short period of time. We look forward to a brighter future in East Chicago.

The City of Ventura is located between Malibu and Santa Barbara on the Pacific coast, overlooking Anacapa and Santa Cruz islands. People have lived along this stretch of the California coast for at least ten thousand years. San Buenaventura was founded in 1782 by Father Junipero Serra, naming it after the Italian St. Bonaventure. The City of San Buenaventura was incorporated in 1866. Ventura became the County seat when Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties split in 1873.
