About the Person

Sally Mercer is the Vice President of Human Resources at Community College of Beaver County, effective May 18, 2015.   Mercer is a seasoned Human Resources leader with over 15 years of leadership experience in higher education in addition to corporate experience.   Mercer has devoted the majority of her career to the public service field. For more than 10 years, she worked in various human resources positions at Saint Mary`s College in Maryland, including Director of Human Resources and then Associate Vice President of Human Resources. In her most recent position, she served as Director of Talent Management for Hudson Valley Credit Union in Poughkeepsie, NY.   Ms. Mercer holds an Associate in Applied Science degree from the College of Southern Maryland; a Bachelor of Science degree in Law and Public Policy and Business Management and a Master of Science degree in Human Resources and Management from the University of Maryland; and post-graduate certificates from Harvard University`s Graduate School of Education and Cornell University`s School of Continuing Education.   Mercer holds certifications as Professional of Human Resources (PHR) through the Society of Human Resource Managers; Title IX Coordinator through the Association of Title IX Administrators; Certified Mediator through the Conflict Management Institute; Change Management Certification through the American Association of Training & Development; Human Performance Improvement Certification; Lean Six Sigma White Belt; and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. She is currently completing qualifications for Diversity Management Certification through Cornell University.   Mercer has been a member of the Society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM); College and University Personnel Association; National Association of College and Business Officers; Credit Union National Association; American Bar Association; American Society of Training & Development; and American Association of University Women as well as several honor societies.   She has also served on the Community Family Development (CFD) Board in Dutchess County, NY; CFD Finance Committee; Southern Maryland Workforce Investment Board; Tri-County Council Program Oversight Committee; State of Maryland Optional Retirement Plan Advisory Board; and program selection committee for the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers.
