About the Person

Russ Hagey is a Senior Partner and Worldwide Talent Officer of Bain & Company. He joined the firm in 1982 and has worked in Bain`s San Francisco, Los Angeles, Zurich, and Amsterdam offices.   While at Bain, Mr. Hagey has worked in medical devices and health-care services, as well as high technology, consumer products, retail, and wholesale trade and distribution. He continues to work with clients on corporate strategies, growth initiatives, new product development, acquisitions, sales force, and distribution issues. His work has spanned large corporate entities in addition to venture- and private-equity-backed ownership stakes.   In his talent role, Mr. Hagey oversees the firm`s recruiting, professional development, training, and human resources functions for nearly 6,000 global staff across 50 offices in 31 countries. For 11 straight years, Bain has been recognized as the “#1/Best Firm to Work For” in Consulting magazine`s annual industry survey. Prior to joining Bain, Mr. Hagey worked as a product manager with ROLM Corporation. He earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Mr. Hagey is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, where he received a BA in economics and was elected Phi Beta Kappa.   In 2007, Mr. Hagey was named one of the industry`s Top 25 Consultants by Consulting magazine in its annual industry survey. He also has led nonprofit efforts for Bain`s Los Angeles office, where he formerly served as the office`s managing director for more than 10 years. He now serves on the boards of directors for LA`s BEST, a nationally recognized after-school program for kids 5–12; the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, where he is co-chairman; and the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.   Mr. Hagey resides in the Bay Area with his wife, Mary Beth, and has two daughters, Katherine and Jill.
