University of North Carolina - Wilmington is North Carolina’s coastal university and is dedicated to learning through the integration of teaching and mentoring with research and service. Rosalynn Martin is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at University of North Carolina Wilmington. Prior to that, she served as director of human resources at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. In her role as associate vice chancellor for human resources, Martin serves under the direction of Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs and work closely with members of the executive cabinet to develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans relating to human resources programs, practices and systems. Additionally, she serves as a member of the VCBA`s senior management team as well as campus and UNC system-wide committees. As UNCW`s Chief Human Resources Officer, Martin guides the development of campus-wide talent management strategies by establishing a framework to actively recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and talented work force; develop policies and practices that champion diversity and create a safe and inclusive work culture. Martin earned an Ed.D. from the University of Memphis, an MBA from Jackson State University and a bachelor`s degree from Alcorn State University. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a senior human resources officer in academia, corporate and municipal environments. Prior to her current post at JSU, Martin served in leadership roles at Comcast Corporation, Crichton College (now Victory University) and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Her areas of expertise include diversity and inclusion, benefits and compensation, fiscal management, employment law, faculty/staff immigration and talent management, among others. A graduate of the Harvard Executive Education Program and the Junior League of Birmingham Leadership Institute, she holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and is a member of the College and University Professional Association (CUPA) and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
