The School Board of Highlands County is an organization committed to student Achievement, Accountability and Academics. This web site is designed to provide useful information to parents, employees, and applicants, and to better inform visitors about our school district.
New Dawn Enterprises Limited, incorporated in 1976, is the oldest Community Development Corporation in Canada and is a Founding Member of the Canadian CED (Community Economic Development) Network. It is a private, volunteer directed, not-for-profit organization dedicated to community building. New Dawn seeks to identify community needs and to establish and operate ventures that speak to those needs. New Dawn employs over 175 people from the Cape Breton community and it services 600 Cape Bretoners each day through its companies and projects. The administrative offices of New Dawn are located in Sydney, Cape Breton, in the province of Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Island, the most eastern part of Nova Scotia and one of the most eastern parts of Canada, is linked to the mainland by a causeway.
