Wheatfield, NY-based Roberta O`Toole as Human Resources Director
Wheatfield is a town in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 18,117 at the 2010 census. The name stems from the agricultural use of the town lands, the growing of wheat.
Roberta Jean O`Toole, formerly known as Robert James O`Toole, served as Town Attorney and Human Resources Director at Town of Wheatfield. After 63 years of being Robert James O`Toole, and town attorney in Wheatfield for 24 of the last 26 years, O`Toole became a woman. O`Toole is apparently the first public official in Western New York to go the transgender route. At the end of June, O`Toole retired from her town job, which included serving as Wheatfield`s human resources director. After retiring from the town last month, she formed a new practice in Buffalo`s Allentown neighborhood with her law partner, Heidi I. Jones. O`Toole will focus on small business, tax, real estate and nonprofit law. Before joining the Town of Wheatfield, O`Toole worked at a major Buffalo law firm that is now defunct. O`Toole earned her law degree at Harvard University.
