\r\n Robert V. Lichtenfeld will retire as Director of Human Resources at Greenwich Public Schools, effective July 1, 2015.   A longstanding resident of Greenwich, Dr. Lichtenfeld has been with Greenwich Schools for five years. He was hired in 2009 as the Managing Director of Operations for the District. At that time, he had recently retired from the Katonah-Lewisboro Schools after twenty-nine years, serving as the District`s Superintendent for the last eight years. In 2011, Dr. Lichtenfeld transitioned to the Director of Human Resources for the Greenwich Public Schools.   After beginning his career in education in New York City as an elementary and special education teacher, and ultimately an Assistant Principal, Dr. Lichtenfeld left the New York City schools in 1972 to become Principal of an independent school, Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY. He returned to the public school system in 1978 as Principal of Lewisboro Elementary School, thus beginning his 29-year tenure with the Katonah-Lewisboro School District (KLSD).   From 1980 to 1984, he served as Principal for John Jay Junior High School, and then as Assistant Superintendent for KLSD for sixteen years (1984-1999) before becoming Superintendent for the District in 1999. In 2009, after retiring from KLSD, Dr. Lichtenfeld became the Managing Director of Operations for the Greenwich Public Schools, in Greenwich, CT. He transitioned to the Director of Human Resources for the GPS in 2011.   Dr. Lichtenfeld has a track record of success in improving achievement for students, providing professional development for staff, implementing new programs designed to improve outcomes, managing large-scale facility projects, and planning for long-term improvement in the schools.   Dr. Lichtenfeld received his B.A. from New York University, New York, NY; and his Masters in Education, Masters in Educational Administration and his Doctorate of Education from Columbia University Teachers College in New York City, NY.\r\n
