Walsh University is an independent, coeducational Catholic, liberal arts and sciences institution. Beacon College exists to offer academic degree programs to students with learning disabilities, ADHD and other learning differences. Beacon was established in 1989 by a group of parents who were concerned by the lack of higher-education opportunities for students with learning disabilities. Education support services include a Writing Center and a Math lab equipped with assistive technology, learning specialists, life coaches, counselors, peer mentors, and occupational therapists available to assist students with their academic and personal goals.
The University of Montana Foundation’s mission is to increase philanthropic support to ensure the University of Montana’s excellence, access and affordability, focusing fundraising activity on the priorities set by the University and building and maintaining relationships with alumni and friends who donate to UM. We also manage an endowment. Earnings from the endowment provide ongoing support for the University. The Foundation is an independent non-profit organization with a Board of Trustees. The Trustees and staff work with University leaders to set fundraising priorities which support the University’s strategic plan. In fiscal year 2015, private support for the University of Montana totaled $52.6 million. Of that, $46 million came from gifts through the UM Foundation. An additional $6.6 million came through private grants to UM.
