About the Person
Philip Young is the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. In this capacity, Young oversees global human resources efforts as the company adds new global fulfillment capabilities in technology and supply chain and prepares to more than triple the number of Oakwood-branded corporate and serviced apartments around the world over the next five years. Young serves on the executive committee of the organization as a key advisor and strategic partner. He leads the implementation of HR policies, processes and practices to maximize employee performance and career development. Young provides expertise in all aspects of HR management, ensuring all associates and job functions are aligned with the business strategy and management objectives of the company. He is also responsible for driving and sustaining a high-performance work culture focused on successfully attracting, retaining and engaging the talent needed to achieve the company’s mission. An HR veteran, Young brings 30 years of experience in the areas of Talent Acquisition and Management; Employee Benefits; Compensation; Safety; Performance Management; Employee and Labor Relations; Organizational Development; Mergers and Acquisitions; and Compliance. Prior to joining Oakwood Worldwide, he was vice president, HR for Castle & Cooke, Inc. Young has also held positions at Environmental Industries, Inc., ABEX/NWL Aerospace and McDonnell Douglas Corporation. Young received his MBA from California Lutheran University and his BA from California State University, Fullerton. He will be based out of the corporate headquarters in Los Angeles.
