Founded in 1947, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) represents family physicians, residents and medical students nationwide. It is the only medical society devoted solely to primary care. Our vision is to transform health care to achieve optimal health for everyone. Mission Health, based in Asheville, North Carolina, is the state’s sixth-largest health system and the region’s only not-for-profit, independent community hospital system governed and managed exclusively in western North Carolina.
