New York, NY-based Citigroup has Appointed Paul D. McKinnon as Head of Human Resources
Citigroup is a diversified financial services holding company that provides various financial products and services. The company operates through two segments, Global Consumer Banking (GCB) and Institutional Clients Group (ICG). The GCB segment offers traditional banking services to retail customers through retail banking, commercial banking, Citi-branded cards, and Citi retail services. The ICG segment offers various banking, and financial products and services to corporate, institutional, public sector, and high-net-worth clients. This segment provides wholesale banking products and services, including fixed income and equity sales and trading, foreign exchange, prime brokerage, derivative services, equity and fixed income research, corporate lending, investment banking and advisory services, private banking, cash management, trade finance, and securities services. Citigroup Inc. was founded in 1812 and is based in New York, United States.
Paul joined Citi on Feb. 1, 2008 with 25 years experience in Human Resources management, consulting and education. He is responsible for all of Human Resources for Citigroup, and for all Talent Management programs. Prior to this assignment, he was Head of Talent Management for Citigroup. Until early 2007, Paul was Senior Vice President of the Human Resources Group for Dell, with responsibility for all aspects of the function. During his 10 years with Dell, Paul was instrumental in the company's Winning Culture initiative, which included all Dell's training and development activities, winning external and internal awards, including the coveted EVE award from the U.S. Department of Labor for secretary's equal opportunity programs. Paul also was Chairman of the Dell Foundation. Prior to Dell, he developed a leadership development practice at three separate management consulting firms: McKinnon Consulting, Novations and Harbridge House. Previously, Paul was an assistant professor at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia, where he taught Organizational Behavior. Paul currently serves on the Board of Directors of the HR Policy Association and the National Urban League, where he currently serves as Board Secretary. He was inducted as a Fellow into the National Academy of Human Resources in 2002. He has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in organizational studies from the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He is a co-editor of The Chief HR Officer, and in 2011 was named 'Human Resources Executive of the Year' by the Academy of Management.
