About the Person

Dr. Paul Arilotta served as Interim Director of Human Resources at Summit Public Schools.   Dr. Paul Arilotta joined the Summit Public Schools in July 2014 as Interim Director of Human Resources. He was responsible for the hiring process of  all district positions, the supervision of the Kim Marshall model for teacher evaluation, and the Welcome Aboard Teacher Training (WATT) for all new  teachers as well as overseeing all functions of the Department of Human Resources.       He joins Summit after a two year position as Interim Director of Human Resources in the Mamaroneck (NY) Public Schools. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2012,  Dr. Arilotta was the Superintendent/Principal/Board Secretary for the Haworth Public School District in Bergen County, NJ.  In this role, he  provided leadership for this K-8 district of 440 students, 51 teachers and 17 support staff members. He was responsible for recruiting, hiring,  supervising, and evaluating all staff and implemented a research-based supervisory structure.     From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Arilotta was the Superintendent of Hanover Park Regional High School District  in Hanover Park, NJ. There, he was  responsible for a staff of 265 and 1,500 students in two high schools in Morris County. He oversaw the school budget of nearly $30 million and  provided instructional leadership to ensure that the diverse student population achieved success.       Previously, from 2006 to 2007, he concluded his 17 year career  in Ridgewood, NJ as Interim Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Arilotta spent 12  years,  from 1994 to 2006, as Principal of Travell School (K-5) in Ridgewood. Highlights of his years there include the formation of a parent-teacher committee, the establishment of Jump Start Early Intervention, and the creation of the Reading and Writing Workshop, with a collaboration with Columbia`s Teachers College. Dr. Arilotta began his career in Ridgewood in 1990 as the Director of Human Resources.       From 1987 to 1990, he served as the Superintendent of Schools in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.       Dr. Arilotta began his teaching career in New York City in 1967 as a Physical Education and Science teacher at the elementary and junior high school  levels. He was a Guidance Counselor for the New York City Board of Education, from 1971 to1974;  an Instructional Supervisor from 1974 to 1979;  and an Assistant Administrative Director from 1979 to 1982. In 1982, Dr. Arilotta was appointed by the New York City Chancellor to the role of Deputy Assistant Superintendent for the Manhattan Region. He served in this role for five years.       Dr. Arilotta lives in Ridgewood with his wife.
