The most centrally located city in Washington state, this historic city is known for it`s diverse arts, agricultural, and educational communities. Ellensburg School District is fortunate to utilize connections with each community in order to provide essential learning opportunities for our students.
The first school was held in Asa Clark`s parlor for three years from 1840 to 1843. Mary Williams of Waukesha was the first teacher. In 1843 the first school was built with log benches for seating at the present site of the First Baptist Church at the corner of Main St. and Prospect Ave.
