Universal Technical Institute, Inc., is a nationwide provider of technical education training for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians. Southwest Baptist University (SBU) is a private institute of higher education affiliated with the Missouri Baptist Convention, which is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2003 there were approximately 3,600 students attending at one of SBU`s four Missouri campuses, located in the towns of Bolivar, Mountain View, Salem and Springfield. Abner S. Ingman and James R. Maupin founded Southwest Baptist College in 1878 in Lebanon, Missouri. The Lebanon campus originally had an enrollment of 60 students and six faculty. The college lasted one year before the city decided they no longer wanted it. When news got out that the college would be moving, the communities of Aurora, Monett, and Bolivar in southwest Missouri attempted to attract the college. In 1879, the state of Missouri chartered the school and it moved to Bolivar, Missouri. The college went through many financial difficulties in the early part of the Twentieth Century. On June 1, 1910, at 11:00 am., the fire that would destroy the campus started. The fire broke out under suspect circumstances, leading some to believe arson was the cause. Bolivar citizen firefighters tried to put out the fire, but the water supply ran dry and at 2:00 pm the fire engulfed the whole campus. Losses were estimated at $20,000. The college was rebuilt, and reopened in 1913.
The Fallsburg Central School District is comprised of two outstanding schools. Benjamin Cosor Elementary School (serving grades preK-6), and the Fallsburg Jr./Sr. High School, (serving grades 7-12). These schools serve a multi-cultural community of approximately 20,000 in the areas of Fallsburg, South Fallsburg, Glen Wild, Greenfield Park, Hurleyville, Loch Sheldrake, Mountaindale, Woodbourne and Woodridge.
Since 1930, nonprofit Purdue Research Foundation has played an important role in helping Purdue become a world-class university. As we gathered feedback from our client companies and gained additional confidence from our faculty-entrepreneurs, we watched our technology transfer, business development and incubation programming garner Purdue numerous honors and awards. On behalf of Purdue, the foundation: 1) manages gifts, bequests and endowments; 2) makes funding available to faculty, staff and students to aid in scientific investigation, research or educational studies; 3) acquires, constructs and improves Purdue`s facilities, grounds and equipment; and 4) manages intellectual property developed at Purdue. Contributions to Purdue, through the foundation, result in scholarships, graduate fellowships, faculty grants and equipment cost-sharing grants. The foundation owns and manages the nationally-acclaimed Purdue Research Park and several satellite technology incubators. The foundation also acquires real estate for the expansion of the university`s main campus in West Lafayette as well as its regional campuses and agricultural centers. In addition, the foundation`s Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) operates one of the most comprehensive technology transfer programs among leading research universities in the United States. Services provided by this office support the economic development initiatives of Purdue University and benefit the university`s academic activities.
