Office of the Governor, State of Alabama

Growing up in the small town of Camden in Wilcox County and working on her father`s farm taught Governor Kay Ivey to value hard work and living within one`s means. Her parents instilled values of faith, family, and community. After graduating from Auburn University in 1967, Kay worked as a high school teacher and a bank officer. She served as Reading Clerk of the Alabama House of Representatives under Speaker Joseph C. McCorquodale and Assistant Director of the Alabama Development Office, where she worked to spur job creation and economic development across the State. In 2002, Governor Ivey became the first Republican elected State Treasurer since Reconstruction and was re-elected in 2006. As Treasurer, Governor Ivey was committed to making the office more open, transparent, and efficient. Governor Ivey was elected Lieutenant Governor in 2010, becoming the first Republican woman to hold the office in Alabama`s history. She again made history on November 4, 2014, by becoming the first Republican Lieutenant Governor re-elected to the office. She has taken on several initiatives to grow jobs, address child hunger, and increase STEM education. As Chair of the Military Stability Commission, she is leading the first statewide coordinated effort to secure and strengthen Alabama`s military assets ahead of any potential base or force realignments. She also serves as national chair of the Aerospace States Association. On April 10, 2017, Governor Ivey was sworn in as the 54th Governor of the State of Alabama in the Old Senate Chamber in the Alabama State Capitol by Acting Chief Justice Lyn Stuart. She believes if you campaign as a Conservative for office, then you should govern as a Conservative in office. Kay Ivey will continue to bring conservative leadership with effective results to make this generation more productive and the next generation more prosperous.

Green Mountain Care Board

The Green Mountain Care Board, created by the Vermont Legislature in 2011, is working to ensure that our health care system provides quality, affordable health care to all Vermonters while reducing waste and controlling costs. The Legislature assigned the GMCB three main responsibilities: regulation, innovation, and evaluation. The GMCB regulates not only health insurance rates, but also hospital budgets, Accountable Care Organizations, and major capital expenditures. The Board also innovates, testing new ways to pay for and deliver health care as part of its role in building a new system. Finally, the Board evaluates innovation projects, proposals for what benefits should be included in Vermont`s new health system, proposals for funding the new system, and the effect of the new system on Vermont`s economy. Throughout all of the Board`s work, the Board consistently works closely with Vermont health care providers and health care consumers to enhance health system transparency and consumer involvement.

State of Rhode Island Department of Administration

The Department of Administration`s work is guided by our mission "to manage the state`s financial, human and other resources in support of other state agencies carrying out their responsibilities to provide the citizens of the State of Rhode Island with the most responsive and cost effective services possible". The department provides supportive services to all Rhode Island departments and agencies for effective coordination and direction of state programs within the framework of a changing administrative and fiscal environment, while ensuring accountability of and value for public dollars. The department also provides policy direction for executive leadership in a variety of financial and administrative matters and is responsible for the statewide implementation of policy decisions affecting the organization and delivery of services administered and supported by the state. Principal responsibilities include the development and administration of the $7.5 billion State budget; determining and maintaining standard specifications for purchases, contracts, bids and awards for State purchases; maintenance and upkeep and procurement of State facilities; administration of the statewide planning program and overall personnel administration and management of State departments and agencies and the negotiation of State employee union contracts. The department, headed by the Director of Administration, has seventeen programmatic functions. These include Central Management, Legal Services, Accounts and Control, Budgeting, Purchasing, Auditing, Human Resources, Personnel Appeal Board, Facilities Management, Capital Projects and Property Management, Information Technology, Library and Information Services, Planning, General Appropriations, Debt Service Payments, Energy Resources and various Internal Services Programs. The goal of the Department of Administration is to oversee the provision of statewide supportive services to all departments and agencies in conformance with legislative and policy mandates and to ensure that programs of the department are efficiently organized and implemented.
