About the Person
Michael J. Zimmerman, MA, SPHR, CCP, is the Regional Human Resource Officer for Presence Health-Central State Region, which includes Presence Covenant Medical Center in Champaign/Urbana, Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville and Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. Zimmerman began his duties in August and oversees the execution of Human Resource strategy including organizational development and talent management strategies within the Central State Region while ensuring the successful delivery of Human Resource services and advancing employee engagement. He comes to Presence Health-Central State from Maryland where he served as Regional Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Talent Management at The University of Maryland Medical System. Zimmerman also served as Vice President of Human Resources at Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Maryland and as Senior Human Resources Consultant and Director of Education and Development at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY. Prior to his service in health care, he held various Human Resources management positions with Sprint. Zimmerman received his Master of Arts degree in Industrial Relations from Saint Francis University and a Bachelor in Humanities Education from Pennsylvania State University. He is a Senior Certified Human Resource Professional through the Society for Human Resources Management, a Certified Compensation Professional through World at Work and Certified in Applied Strategic Planning. Zimmerman has served as an adjunct professor of Business Ethics at Frostburg State University in Maryland and is a contributing author to Inside the Minds: Talent Management Strategies (Aspatore Books). He is also an editorial reviewer for World at Work publications.
