Melissa Howell was appointed SVP of global HR at Wolverine Worldwide in 2014. Previously, she was the SVP of global human resources for General Motors in North America. Howell has 22 years of successful global HR management and labor relations experience. She also has expertise in leadership development, talent management, executive and classified compensation administration, organizational design and development, and culture change. Howell began her career at GM in 1990 as a graduate school intern and in 1993, she joined the GM benefits staff at GM headquarters in Detroit. She then joined the international operations group in 1995 as the HR North American operations liaison to the GM Europe region and, a year later, was transferred to GM Europe headquarters as the executive compensation manager. She was later named HR manager for GM Europe manufacturing and in 2000 was named regional HR director for GM`s Asia-Pacific region. In 2002, she repatriated as the personnel director for the Orion Assembly Plant and a year later, she was named director of HR for GM manufacturing engineering. In 2006, Howell was appointed director of HR for corporate staffs, and in 2009, she became HR director for global sales and marketing.
