About the Person
Maria Alam is the Assistant Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at University of Memphis. Alam has more than 25 years of experience in human resource management in higher education. Before joining the U of M, she was associate vice president of Human Resources operations at George Washington University and assistant vice president of Human Resources at Florida International University. She holds a master’s degree in human resource development and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, both from Florida International. She has been actively involved in many professional organizations, including the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Alam has been recognized for excellence in human resources management and practices at George Washington and Florida International, and by the CUPA-HR. She is listed in the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals as an individual of distinction who is influential within the HR industry.
