About the Person

Lori T. Brown, J.D., SPHR, SHRM-SCP - With over 15 years of human resources experience, Lori has been directly involved with virtually every aspect of human resources administration. Some key areas of her expertise include: employee relations, benefits administration, policy and procedure development and implementation, workplace harassment investigations, recruitment and staffing of exempt and non-exempt positions as well as administering safety programs. She is a 1990 graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law and is a licensed attorney in both Oklahoma and Missouri. She is an experienced employment law writer and is the author of the Family and Medical Leave Act Manual for Wisconsin Employers, which compares and contrasts the differences between the Wisconsin and federal FMLA and teaches employers how to comply with both. She is also editor of the Employment Law Manual for Wisconsin Employers, which analyzes areas of employment law such as workers compensation issues, Americans with Disabilities and Title VII compliance, Department of Labor Wage and Hour rules and regulations, and employment law best practices. One of her favorite aspects of human resources management is in the creation and implementation of an HR presence in small companies. She focuses on understanding how to best support the company’s needs based on their business needs, establishing goals, and teaming with management to meet those goals.
