About the Person

Lisa Jeffries Caldwell is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) and subsidiary RAI Services Company.   Caldwell joined RAI`s largest subsidiary, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, in 1991 as manager of employment practices. Between 1993 and 1995, she served as a personnel manager for the company`s manufacturing division and later for its engineering department.   She was promoted to director of human resources in 1996, and managed various human-resources programs including strategic planning prior to becoming vice president of human resources in January 2002.   Caldwell became senior vice president of human resources for RAI and R.J. Reynolds in 2006, and was promoted to executive vice president -human resources of both companies in June 2008. In January, 2010, she became Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for RAI and RAI Services.   Caldwell was named to Black Enterprisemagazine`s 2012 100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America listing. Before joining Reynolds Tobacco, Caldwell`s experience included working as an attorney for two firms in Winston-Salem, N.C. – Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, and West and Banks.   She serves on the Board of Visitors for Wake Forest Univesrity Schools of Business and is a board member for Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind. She is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and a member of The Links Incorporated and The Moles, Inc.   A native of Burlington, N.C., Caldwell earned a juris doctor degree in 1986 from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was a Wake Forest Law Scholar. She was also a Morehead Scholar and earned a bachelor`s degree in business administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983.
