Winston-Salem Industries for The Blind is THE LARGEST EMPLOYER of people who are blind or visually impaired in the country. Industries for the Blind began in 1936 as a two-room shop in downtown Winston-Salem, with only six blind workers, in an effort to provide employment opportunities to persons who were blind or visually impaired.

 

About the Person

Kristine Southern is the Director of Human Resources at the Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind.   Southern has more than 17 years of experience and will be responsible for human resources functions at the corporate level in addition to leading the organization`s human resources managers at three manufacturing facilities and more than 40 remote locations.   She will also be responsible for leadership development and training throughout IFB.
