About the Company
Afferent Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a leader in the development of novel, selective drugs for the treatment of a range of debilitating neurogenic disorders. These disorders affect millions of patients who suffer from chronic respiratory and urologic sensory pathologies as well as chronic pain, and who have limited, if any, treatment options. These chronic disorders arise when certain nerve fibers become hyper-sensitized as a result of inflammation, distress, infection or tissue injury, and sometimes remain chronically sensitized for months or even years.
About the Person
Ms. Glaub joined Afferent`s board of directors in 2013, and in August 2014, joined the company as chief executive officer. Prior to joining Afferent, Ms. Glaub co-led Plexxikon Inc. as president for 12 years, until May 2013. In this role, she drove the business and financing strategy for the company negotiating $67 million in venture funding, 6 partnerships generating over several hundred million in non-equity funding, and the company`s buyout by Daiichi Sankyo for nearly $1 billion cash in 2011. While at Plexxikon, she was instrumental in the advancement of multiple novel molecules to the clinic, as well as the advancement of ZelborafTM, a targeted treatment for melanoma, to market approval along with its companion diagnostic in 2011. Ms. Glaub`s career spans 30 years of executive-level experience in corporate strategy, financing and company-building for technology and innovation-based companies, including Cell Genesys, Genentech and Intel. Ms. Glaub received her MBA from Northwestern University, and her BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
