About the Person

Kathleen S. Barclay is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for The Kroger Co. where she leads all aspects of human resources, including leadership development, talent management, succession planning, associate engagement and total reward programs. She is involved in the company’s board activities, including the public policy committee and secretary to the compensation and succession committee. Barclay has more than 30 years of experience in the human resources field.Prior to joining Kroger, Barclay was the VP of global human resources for the General Motors Corp. During her time with GM, she led the automaker’s global human resources organization. Barclay served in leadership roles as president of Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business and member of the MIT Sloan Fellows alumni board.Barclay was installed in the National Academy of Human Resources 2000 class of fellows and serves as chair of its board.She is a three-time recipient of Automotive News’ 100 Leading Women and has been named to Human Resource Executive magazine’s HR Honor Roll.In 2013, Barclay was the recipient of The YWCA’s Career Woman of Achievement Award. Barclay earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Michigan State University and an MBA from the MIT’s Sloan Fellows program.
