FTS International is a leading independent provider of well stimulation services for the oil and gas industry in the United States. The company also has several international joint venture projects in progress. Exploration and production companies use our services primarily to enhance their recovery rates from wells drilled in shale and other unconventional reservoirs. We continue to focus on more environmentally friendly ways to do business - developing vital assets and promoting energy independence, while protecting natural resources.
Karen Thornton is vice president of HR for FTS International (FTSI), the largest private well completion company in North America. Ms. Thornton oversees the strategic direction of the HR function, leading the adoption of a culture of excellence among all employees and positioning the company as an Employer of Choice. She is responsible for ensuring that all HR initiatives and programs support the achievement of FTSI’s business goals. Ms. Thornton focuses her efforts on progressive and proactive programs that effectively attract, develop, retain, recognize and reward top talent at all levels of the company. With more than 15 years of experience in human capital administration, including strategic planning, change management, operations and project management, Ms. Thornton he has a proven track record of working successfully with senior leaders as a strategic HR partner, addressing and resolving a variety of organizational and people issues. Before joining FTSI in 2014, Ms. Thornton was the strategic lead for HCM applications at Darling Ingredients Inc. (formerly Darling International). Prior to that, she was vice president of human resources and management services at Envision Health (formerly EmCare Inc.). She began her career as a consulting manager for Arthur Andersen, LLP. Thornton earned an MBA from the University of Texas and a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Purdue University. An avid education advocate, Ms. Thornton serves on the board of directors for the Tarrant County College Foundation. She is also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and the National Payroll Association.
