About the Company
Galesburg Cottage Hospital has received The Joint Commission seal of accreditation and is the only hospital in Galesburg and west- central Illinois to have been named a Top Performer hospital several years in a row for succeeding in several health metrics. Cottage is also the only western Illinois hospital to be accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as a Chest Pain Center after having met rigorous standards of care in the timely treatment of cardiac emergencies. The Level II Trauma Emergency Department is an Emergency Department approved for Pediatrics by the State of Illinois and is also a Primary Stroke Center as certified by The Joint Commission. With over 70 medical staff members representing a cross section of specialties, Galesburg Cottage Hospital has the area`s only Wound Healing Center with hyperbaric oxygen chambers, Surgical Weight Loss Center, and a renal dialysis center, among many other specialized services. Galesburg Cottage Hospital is celebrating more than 120 years of caring service to Western Illinois residents.
About the Person
Karen Russell is the Director of Human Resources at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Most recently, Russell served as the Vice-President of Human Resources at Perry Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital in Princeton. In her new role at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Russell is responsible for all aspects of human resources management, including all employment practices, employee relations and engagement, benefits and compensation. With over 20 years of experience in HR management, Russell is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®), a professional certification with coursework requirements in all HR disciplines. Russell received her undergraduate degree in business and economics from Bradley University, Peoria, IL, and a Master`s in business administration with a concentration in human resources from Lewis University. Russell serves as president of the Central Illinois Society for Human Resources, and is a member of the Illinois Valley Senior Human Resources Management Chapter. She is a board member of the Bureau Valley School Foundation, a member of the Wyanet Community Club, and she serves as the Race Director for the Nancy Jo Olds-Bohm 5k Race.
