About the Person

Kaila Kenjar is the Director of Human Resources at City of Ames, effective October 19, 2015.   Kenjar served as the human resources vice president for Community State Bank in Ankeny for the past seven years. Prior to that time she served as human resources assistant vice president at MetaBank in Des Moines, and has worked in human resources positions at other banking institutions in Iowa.   Kenjar, a graduate of Iowa State University, is active in the Society for Human Resource Management, the Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management, and other professional organizations, as well as volunteering with several non-profit agencies.   The city`s director of human resources provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the human resource functions of all city departments, which includes 563 full-time equivalent employees.   The position oversees all activities of the Human Resources Department and serves as a member of the city manager`s executive leadership team.
