Julie Huisman served as Director of Human Resources at City of Ames. She retired after 11 years with the city to spend more time with family and pursue other career opportunities. She joined the city in 2003. Before that, Huisman was the human resources director for the Iowa State University Foundation. Prior to that, she worked for 22 years in numerous human resource specialist and management roles for Phillips Petroleum company in Texas, Oklahoma and Venezuela. Huisman, 58, plans to begin a coaching business in the fall 2015, but first wants to spend more time with her family. She and her husband have three children and one granddaughter.
