About the Person
Julie Hamilton is the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Davidson County Schools. Julie Hamilton has always been drawn to assisting other people, whether as a teacher, principal or working in the human resources department. The 1983 East Davidson High School graduate earned an elementary education degree from High Point College in 1987. She also received a master's degree in school administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2004. Hamilton has a daughter who is a 2014 graduate of East Davidson High School. Her teaching career started with Thomasville City Schools. During her 10-year span with the school district, Hamilton taught Spanish, science and fourth grade. She took a year off from education and worked as a broker for a real estate company. Hamilton admits she started missing students because so many of them would come with their parents to the office to pay rent. The next move was then to Davidson County Schools in 1998 as a teacher at Southwood Elementary School and then Pilot Elementary School. Four years later she became the assistant principal at Welcome Elementary for three years and principal of Reeds Elementary School for three years. Hamilton went to the central office in 2008 as the human resources director. Five years later she became the executive director of human resources when Dr. Tony Peele retired as the deputy assistant superintendent in March 2013.
