About the Person

Julie M. Gravallese is Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of The MITRE Corporation. In this role, she is responsible for strategic planning and direction of human resources for MITRE employees at more than 60 locations worldwide.   In her 35 years at MITRE, Ms. Gravallese has established a reputation as a strong leader and manager. She has a distinguished track record of innovative leadership, characterized by highly effective communications skills, a focus on building partnerships, and strategic analysis and critical thinking. She also brings detailed knowledge of MITRE`s business and sponsors, as well as of the operations of various corporate organizations.   Ms. Gravallese has served in director-level positions at MITRE since 1996, leading the Open Systems Center, the Information Technology Center, and, most recently, the Geospatial Intelligence & Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Program Division. In her most recent role, she led a team of 140 engineers and computer scientists that supported two MITRE sponsor portfolios within the intelligence community, focusing on geospatial intelligence and space systems. Ms. Gravallese led a number of Defense and Intelligence agencies projects in her accomplished 33-year career as a systems engineer and manager. She recently worked in the areas of strategic assessments for the counterterrorism intelligence mission and information technology implementation across the Intelligence Community.   Ms. Gravallese was a 2016 recipient of the first annual ExecutiveBiz Top Human Resources Executive Award for her outstanding leadership, vision, innovation, and achievement within the government contracting world. She is involved in a variety of academic, industry, and government forums and has taught enterprise computing, IT strategies, data analytics, and cloud technologies at the graduate level. Ms. Gravallese is an active member of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, the National Defense Industrial Association, and the Society of Women Engineers.   In her free time, Ms. Gravallese enjoys many community activities—she was a soccer coach for 15 years—and spending time with her daughter, who is attending college in Virginia.   Ms. Gravallese holds a BS and MS in Engineering from the University of Virginia, with a focus on systems engineering and enterprise systems.
