Brawley, CA-based Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District has Appointed Julie Cunningham as Chief Human Resources Officer
About the Company
In the 1940s, leaders with a vision realized the need for expanded health service for the northern part of Imperial County. Through their foresight and devotion to this worthy cause, the district was created. The Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District is a public entity formed under California law, specifically a local health care district formed under California Health & Safety Code §§32000 et seq. Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District was formed under the governance of a board of directors that was appointed by the Imperial County Board of Supervisors. Subsequent boards have been elected by the residents of the district. The construction of the hospital was begun, and that original building remains today as the core of the present facility. The doors to the hospital were opened with eighty-eight beds on October 24, 1950, with Louis Peelyn as the first hospital administrator/CEO. The first board members were E.J. “Jack” Fabbri, William M. Corn, Elmer Sears, T.B. Shank, and Clarence R. Walker.
About the Person
Julie joined Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District in April, 2013 and is responsible for Human Resources, the Child Care Center and our Volunteers. She brings over 20 years in the Human Resources field, with over 17 of those years serving our Southern California communities. She has held both generalist and specialist roles in Human Resources including roles as head of Human Resources in the healthcare and hi-tech industries as well as specialist roles as head of Total Rewards for specialty retailer, PETCO Animal Supplies headquartered in San Diego and more recently as Vice President Compensation and Benefits for Intercontinental Hotels Group, a global hospitality company headquartered in the United Kingdom. Julie graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Administration in Psychology and a minor in Child Development and holds certification as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute.
