About the Person

Julie Ayers is the Deputy City Manager at City of Peoria, Arizona.   Prior to that, she served as Human Resources Director at City of Peoria, Arizona. Ayers has been with the city since July 2012.   Prior to coming to Peoria, Ayers was the Yavapai County Administrator since 2007. Her previous experience includes being the director of human resources and risk management for Yavapai County from 2000 until 2007, and was previously a director of human resources in the private sector.   Since joining the city as the human resources director, Ayers has successfully led the city`s labor task force, which resulted in significant improvements to the collective bargaining process with represented employee groups. In addition, she modernized the human resources function for the city, improved the employee health insurance trust, recreated the wellness program and led the city`s diversity committee.  She is currently leading the city`s mid-decade census.   Ayers has a bachelor`s degree from ASU and a master`s degree in public administration from Grand Canyon University.  She also has the “Certified Public Manager” certificate from ASU, and holds a certificate from the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Ayers received her “Credentialed Manager” designation in 2013.
