About the Person

John Kinzell has 25 years of operations and product development experience in the biotechnology and chemical industries. He has demonstrated skills in organizing and structuring startups for both consulting and product-based companies. Most recently, he was the Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at Arysta LifeScience, and prior to that, Head of Regulatory Affairs at Arysta LifeScience`s US business unit where he managed all pre-registration testing programs and regulatory activities. In 1998, John founded Optime Therapeutics, a Bay Area drug delivery company. As CEO, he raised over $8M and oversaw the development of the company`s lead compound through a Phase 2a clinical trial for osteoarthritis. In 1994, he was one of four senior managers recruited by Tomen Corporation (Japan) to start an international agrochemical division with products acquired from Chevron Chemical. At Tomen Agro, he served in key management team roles that led to successful product registrations in Canada, South America, Asia-Pacific, and many EU countries. In 1983, he co-founded Southwest BioLabs, a contract research and consulting company in New Mexico. Southwest provided research and development services to pharmaceutical and agrochemical companies. The company was sold to a private investment group in 1996. John began his career as a regulatory toxicologist with the Health Protection Branch in Ottawa, Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in toxicology from Michigan State University and is certified by the American Board of Toxicology. He was previously a director of the California Kidney Cancer Foundation. Currently, he is an advisor to Security Research Associates’ life science investment banking practice and a member of BayBio`s Government Relations Committee.
