About the Person

Joe W. Laymon, 61, is Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Services for Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2008. He is responsible for human resources, medical services, security, aviation, diversity and ombuds. Previously Laymon served as group vice president of Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs for Ford Motor Company from 2000 to 2008 and was responsible for global human resources, labor relations, medical, security and aviation. Prior to joining Ford, Laymon worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with assignments in Zaire and Washington, D.C. Previous to USAID he held several senior human resources positions at Eastman Kodak Company, including vice president of Human Resources for U.S. and International Operations. Laymon serves on the board of directors of BoardRoomIQ.com and the United Way of the Bay Area. He also serves on the board of trustees of Clark Atlanta University and is a national trustee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Laymon is a member of the Human Resources Network in the Petroleum Industry and the HR Policy Association. Laymon joined Chevron in 2008 in the position currently held. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Jackson State University in 1975 and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1977.
