About the Company
West Liberty University is a forward-looking, four-year public university steeped in a rich heritage as West Virginias oldest institution of higher education. Established as West Liberty Academy in 1837 (26 years before the state was admitted to the Union), it was created to respond to the need for higher educational opportunities west of the Appalachian ridge. The institution is named for the town in which it is located. West Liberty was so named in the late 18th Century as the westernmost point of the new liberty provided through the Declaration of Independence.
About the Person
Jim Stultz served as Vice President of Human Resources at West Liberty University April 2011 - July 2015. Stultz has been vice president of human resources at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling for 40 years. Effective May 1, 2011, he stepped down from the university`s Board of Governors where he served since 2009. Stultz is a graduate of West Virginia University and earned his master`s in business administration from Ohio University. He has been an adjunct faculty member at WLU and has held leadership posts with the Upper Ohio Valley Chapter for Human Resource Management. A Vietnam War veteran, Stultz was a U.S. Army captain. He is a former mayor of Moundsville and continues to serve on several community boards. Among Stultz`s community activities are service as a board member and officer with the Harmony House, a project of Valley Hospice in Marshall County; the board of the county YMCA; and the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also secretary-treasurer of the Marshall County Library Board and water board.
